Both teams third at Lake Central Conference meet; BEC cancelled

The Fliers got one of their conference track and field meets in the books last week, but weather forced the other to be cancelled.
The Lake Central Conference meet was held in Clark on Tuesday, May 13.
Flandreau was to host the Big East Conference teams on Thursday which was rescheduled to Friday, but weather created havoc again and forced the cancellation of both attempts.
The Fliers last remaining meet to gain a spot in the state tournament is the Last Chance Meet, Thursday at Tri-Valley Schools.

CLARK A warm windy day greeted the tracksters on Tuesday at the Clark Track Complex as they competed in the Lake Central Conference meet.
Flandreaus boys came in third scoring 118 points. Deuel took the team title scoring 189 and Sioux Valley was second at 185.5
The girls team came in third as well with 134 points just missing second place as DeSmet scored 134.5 points. Clark/Willow Lake won the championship with 201.
The girls picked up three of the five relay events winning the 4×200, 4×400 and medley relays and took second in the 4×800.
Individually, Faith Wiese won the 800 and 1600 meter runs.
The boys earned gold medals from Brent Westberry in the 400, Logan Kontz in the 3200, Luke Sheppard in the triple jump and the medley relay.
On the Top Performance Lists in Class A, Brenton Westberry is currently first in the boys 400 and the girls medley team of Ella Hoffman, Morgan Sheppard, Kiley Westberry and Faith Wiese were first in the girls medley relay.
As of Friday, the Fliers have several who have already qualified for the state meet. Both teams have athletes in events listed in the top 24.
