The annual Impact Aid Hearing was held. Impact Aid is money the district receives due to federal land not being on the tax role.
Aid to districts who qualify is calculated using the number of students who live on federal land, such as Santee Sioux Tribal land or on the Flandreau Indian School campus, and also if one parent of any Flandreau student works on tribal lands such as any of the tribal entities, Royal River Casino or federal land (FIS).
School districts who receive Impact Aid use this money to educate all students. Additional payments for Impact Aid students with disabilities must be used for that program only.
The board approved the application.
