More than 400 people attended the annual Firemans Pancake Feed on Sunday to support the Colman Volunteer Fire Department.
Held at the Fire Hall, the event drew steady crowds for pancakes, sausage, and a chance to visit with local first responders, who had traded in, momentarily, their usual gear for aprons. Many werent there for long however. Crews got an emergency response call out to the Interstate early on into the breakfast and returned as volunteers, including many family members, were cleaning up from a busy morning.
The long-standing tradition not only brings the community together but also raises critical funds for the department. Donations help cover the cost of updated gear, training, and essential equipment needed for day-to-day operations.
Organizers said the turnout was a strong show of support for the volunteer team that serves the Colman area.
Both the Flandreau and Trent Fire Departments also held their late winter/spring pancake feeds with large crowds supporting these fire departments as well.
