Munk, Meyer take titles at SDWCA tourney

RAPID CITY Moody County had 13 young wrestlers place at the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association State Wrestling Tournament held the end of March in Rapid City.
Colman Youth wrestlers Kendall Munk and Krew Meyer took first place in their division and weight class.
In the girls 8U 50# class, the top seeded Munk defeated Adrian Fritz of Tea by fall in 55 seconds, then took only 17 seconds to pin Berlyn Geffre of Faith. In the semi finals she won 18-3 tech fall over Jozey Heath of Bennett County before pinning Conroe Lumme of Gregory in 2:50 to take the title.
For Meyer, he was in the boys 8U 47# division. He won over Liam Hagedorn of Hermosa in a 13-3 major decision and then pinned Bridger Clark of Howard in 15 seconds. His semi-final win came over Brecken Buchholz of Philip by fall in 3:32. For the finals, Meyer who was seeded second, won in a 9-6 sudden victory over top seed, Myles Kazena of Wagner.
Also from the Colman Youth Wrestling Club, Nora Heinricy took third in girls 10U Hwt., Gus Tonneson was seventh in boys 10U 56#, Braydin Giese was 8th in boys 10U 52#.
On the high school level, Zach Pederson took fourth at 132# wrestling in the 16U division.
For the Flandreau Youth Wrestling Club, McKinley Bowden took sixth in girls 8U 53# and Kylie DeMartelea was seventh at 83#.
In girls 12U, Alli Armstrong came in sixth at 100#. Dasha Pedraza Felix was sixth in girls 14U Hwt.
Melvin DeMartelea took eighth place in the boys 10U 123# division.
And high school wrestlers Teague Bergjord, 126#, took second and Justin Klein, 172# took third in the boys 19U division.
