BROOKINGS Several Flier track and field athletes opened the year at the Scott Underwood Invite on April 7.
Top place winners came from Faith Wiese taking second and setting a new personal record in the 800 meter run. Her time was 2:17.47.
Morgan Sheppard took sixth in the 400 meter dash, 1:02.74 and seventh in the 200 meter dash, 28.11.
Also for the Flier girls in the 400, Kiley Westberry came in just behind Sheppard, 1:03.74, earning seventh place.
The Flier 4×400 relay team of Wiese, Westberry, Ella Hoffman and Shepard came in third at 4:16.67 and the boys foursome of Paul Parsley, Ben Kulm, Micah Otto and Brenton Westberry finished sixth at 3:41.67.
Westberry was the top Flier boys to place taking fourth in the 400 meter dash. His time was 52.02. In the boys high jump, Otto was sixth at 510.
