Flier boys close regular season with Parent Night win

FLANDREAU The Flier boys closed the regular season hoop schedule with an 11-9 record and a 10 point home win over Deubrook Area on Monday, Feb. 24. Final score was 51-41 to get a Parent Night win.
We let Deubrook jump out to an early 10-3 lead in the games first two minutes, said Head Coach Brendan Sheppard.
After that we were able to lock down defensively and made it difficult for them the rest of the night. We kept grinding away offensively and finally broke loose in the fourth quarter scoring 21 points.
At the end of the first quarter, the Dolphins held the led 12-6, and at the half time, 24-21. Both teams had low scoring during the third period with the Fliers hitting nine and the Dolphins seven to set the score at 31-30 in favor of the visitors.
Heres where the Fliers broke loose in the final frame and put in 21 points while holding Deubrook to 10.
The teams shot pretty evenly with the Fliers hitting 44 percent to the Dolphins 43 overall. Flandreau won the edge in rebounds, 26-22, and committed fewer turnovers, nine to the Dolphins 12.
Alfie Henderson had the hot Flier hand making 6-of-11 shots from 3 point land to total 18 points. Paul Parsley made 13 and Micah Otto 10 to round out the Fliers offensive attack.
Henderson and Xavier Bien both had five rebounds and Parsley made four. He also gave out eight assists.
Isaac Gass scored 5 and Chance Schoenfeld 10 for Deubrook.
In the JV teams final game, the Fliers won 28-21. Kenton James scored eight points and Tate Hammer put in seven.
Flandreau now prepares for the Region 3A tourney and will come in as the four seed. They were to host #5 seed Madison on Tuesday (weather permitting). A win puts them against #1 seed West Central on Friday.
