Final doubleheader ends in split for Flier teams

BALTIC Flandreau girls won but the boys lost in the final doubleheader basketball game of the season on Bob Sittig Court.

Girls
Flandreau 56, Baltic 26
The Flier girls took a 30 point win from the Bulldogs, 56-26.
Flandreau led at all quarter stops, 17-7, 30-13 at the half and 49-17 after three quarters of play.
Freshman Morgan Sheppard led the Flier team with 16 points and eight rebounds while Senior Sadie Iott put in 15 and dished out four assists.
Junior Hannah Krull swiped down seven rebounds.
Flandreau shot 47 percent from the field and Baltic was held to 24 percent (9 of 37 attempts) and kept their turnovers low to 11 to Baltics 20.
Meredith Larson and Caitlyn Pickett both scored 10 apiece for Baltic.
Flandreaus JV team won the game, 30-17. Aly Schepel scored 10 points and Rona Streitz added seven.

Boys
Baltic 52, Flandreau 33
The boys took their fifth loss in a row last Tuesday against the Bulldogs, 52-33.
We did not shoot well from the field, said Head Coach Brendan Sheppard. The Flier only scored two points in the second and fourth quarters.
We are more of a jump shooting team now and when we dont shoot well, we have a hard time scoring points. We played okay defensively but need to bring more passion and intensity on that end.
The locals led after one period, 15-10, but were held to two points to Baltics 14 in the second and were down 24-17 at the half. Both teams scored well in third, Flandreau 14 to Baltics 16, (40-31 after 3rd period) but the Fliers two points in the fourth quarter while Baltic hit for 12 wasnt going to do the job.
Paul Parsley was the lone Flier in double digit scoring with 14 points and had five boards.
Flandreau shot 30 percent as a team to the Bulldogs 46.
Dylan Runestad had 14 and Ben Erickson 13 for the Bulldogs.
Off the boards, Flandreau was outrebounded 30-20.
Flandreau won the JV game, 35-19. Top scorers were Jake Hamilton, 13 points, Kenton James, nine and Tate Hammer, eight.
