Flandreaus One-Act cast and crew recently earned a Superior rating at the South Dakota High School Activities Association State One-Act Festival for their performance of The Headless Horseman, a musical retelling of Washington Irvings The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
They were among just five Class A schools to receive the honor.
Additionally, all members of the cast were recognized as Outstanding Performers, either as individuals or as part of an Outstanding Ensemble a rare honor.
Ben Kulm, Abe Streitz, Abby Lewis, and Justin Haugen were named Outstanding Performers, while the rest of the cast were named an Outstanding Ensemble: Claire Wegner, Marina Tharrats Lopez, Bailey Bergjord, Hailey Lahr, Isabel Kulm, Mia Pieper, Fawn Frias, Jillian Knippling, Miesha Pedraza-Felix, Tillie Haugen, and CJ Thompson.
Sharing in the Superior were tech crew members Liam Knippling and Dillyn Opsahl.
Director Kristi Fischer says of the cast and crew: This is a dedicated and talented group of students whose commitment to the performance drove their success. It is a difficult challenge to take on a musical script as a contest piece, and these students stepped up in both the solo and group musical moments. I am proud of them all.
