Doubleheaders held as seasons wind down

The Colman-Egan Hawks girls raised their season record to 17-2 with defeats over Howard and Deubrook Area. The boys won over Howard but lost to Deubrook.
The boys team is now 7-10 and has a pair of games left to play; at Canistota on Friday and host Sioux Falls Lutheran the following Friday, Feb. 28.
The Lady Hawks start Region 3B play Monday.

Girls
CE 63, Howard 12
COLMAN In what may be likely one of their most dominating games of the season, the Hawks shut down the Howard Tigers from beginning to end in a 63-12 win.
Colman-Egan poured in 30 first quarter points then added 11 in the second to set the half time mark at 41-12. The Tigers then put up a goose egg in second half scoring while the Hawks continued to find the net.
Colman-Egan fired in 54 percent (26-of-48) in field goals shooting, but struggled at the line (4-of-11).
Their defense recorded 15 steals creating 22 Tiger miscues which resulted in 26 points off turnovers. They only made eight turnovers themselves.
Senior Kaylee Voelker scored 16 Colman-Egan points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Jolie Flatten put in 13 points and Brynlee Landis added 12
Elaina Rhode made five of those steals and had six rebounds.
Howards woes were evident in the stat lines. They shot 9.1 percent from the field (3-of-33). Reese Rudebusch scored six for the Tigers.

Boys
CE 59, Howard 36
The Hawks jumped out toa 19-9 first quarter lead and had no trouble defeating #5 Class B rated Howard.
They extended the lead in the second period putting in 13 points to Howards 10 to take the edge at the half, 32-19. The Hawks outscored the Tigers in the third quarter, 12-9 and then sealed the win with a 15-8 fourth quarter.
Colman-Egan shot 53 percent from the field.
Jase Mousel fired in 18 points and brought down 14 rebounds for a double-double. His brother Jack put in 13 points shooting 6-of-8 from the field and Jackson Zwart dropped in 11 points and had six boards.
Caden Zwart aided the offense dishing out five assists and Taylor Kreich made three steals on defense.

Girls
CE 61, Deubrook Area 56
WHITE Coach Tyler Husbys team headed to White and faced a salty Dolphin team coached by Brad DeBeer on Friday, Feb. 14.
At the half, the score was knotted at 19.
It was 38-35 after three. The locals kept control and won 61-56.
No other stats were available by press time.

Boys
Deubrook Area 70, CE 59
The Hawks hung with the Dolphins through one quarter, 20-16 but then the hosts took off and scored 20 second quarter points while holding CE to nine to keep a 40-25 edge at the half.
Both teams scored 13 point in the third quarter to set the score at 53-38 as the fourth quarter began. The Hawks would outscored Deubrook, 21-17, but it wouldnt be enough as the Dolphins went on to win, 70-59.
Jase Mousel pounded in 24 points, had six rebounds, four steals and four assists to lead the Hawks. Jackson Zwart added 14 points and Jack Mousel also had six rebounds.
The Hawks shot 40 percent from the field to the Dolphins 48.
Chance Schoenfeld had 23 points for Deubrook.
