Settle for split in action last week

Flandreaus boys basketball team traveled to Garretson and then Hartford last week and earned a win, but also took a loss.
The boys now have a season record of 9-5 and were to host an 8-7 Dell Rapids on Tuesday and then a 7-7 Sioux Valley team on Thursday. DeSmet, 6-6, comes to town next Tuesday, Feb. 11 for a doubleheader game with the girls teams.

Flandreau 58, Garretson 47
GARRETSON The Fliers went on the road and took a Big East Conference win over the Garretson Blue Dragons, 58-47.
The Fliers and Dragons kept the game close in the first half settling on 25-22 at the break. Flandreau broke it open in the fourth scoring 17 points to earn the win.
Weve been dealing with some sickness and injuries this past week and had to change rotations and roles, said Coach Brendan Sheppard.
Paul Parsley scored 29 points shooting 9-of-10 from the free throw line. He also had seven rebounds and four assists.
Kody Kneebone and Jonathan Powers both pulled down nine rebounds. Flandreau dominated off the boards with 33 team rebounds to Garretsons 19.
The boys played good defense and made enough offensive plays to pull out the victory. Alex Poitra, Kody Kneebone, and JP Powers all stepped up and provided a boost against Garretson.
Ian Buettner scored 14 points for the hosts.
The Flier JV team lost to Garretson 39-29. Jadon Eng had 17 points.
Flandreaus C team defeated the Blue Dragons, 34-27. Tate Hammer scored 13 points and Jake Hamilton added eight.

West Central 54, Flandreau 30
HARTFORD The Trojans upended the Fliers, 54-30, on the West Central court Friday evening.
We did a nice job on the defensive end against West Central, said Coach Sheppard.
We competed hard and played smart, but offensively, we struggled.
The Fliers started down 13-7 after a period and were behind 28-21 at the half. Only nine second half points was their demised while the Trojans poured in 26 to seal the win.
We will be more of a perimeter orientated team and we will have to make 3 point shots to score. We did not shoot the ball well enough.
Flandreau hit only 24 percent from the field which included having only five of 27 three-point attempts go in the basket.
With 20 points and six rebounds Paul Parsley led the Fliers. Kody Kneebone also had six boards and Jonathan Powers made five. Alex Poitra gave out three assists.
Rebounds were even with both pulling down 34 boards. The Fliers were only able to make three steals while having 20 turnovers.
Will Kuhl scored 13 for the Trojans. Kille Garry added nine and Connor Mabius gave out five assists.
