The Hawks spent two days on the road playing in a couple of doubleheader basketball games. The Colman-Egan girls won both, while the boys team dropped a pair.
The girls have a season record of 14-2 and were to travel to Bridgewater-Emery on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Theyll return home on February 11 hosting Howard in a doubleheader contest with the boys teams.
The boys now have a record of 5-8 and were to be in Chester on Monday and then will host Estelline-Hendricks on Friday.
Girls
CE 54, Castlewood 39
CASTLEWOOD Kaylee Voelker put in 20 points for her Colman-Egan Hawks in the 54-39 win over the Warriors.
Both teams had similar shooting percentages. Colman-Egan shot 33 percent from the field and 63 at the line while Castlewood hit 34 and 64 respectively.
Colman-Egan led at all quarter stops, 15-10, 30-18, 39-30 and closed it out at 54-39.
Following Voelker was Brynlee Landis with 16 points including 9-of-10 at the free throw line.
Anna Zwart with seven and Elaina Rhode with six led the Hawks in rebounding. Rhode was also the top thief with six steals.
Sophia Kudrna scored nine and Bryn Schooley, eight for the hosts.
Boys
Castlewood 59, CE 24
Castlewood proved why theyre second ranked in Class B polls with a 59-24 defeat over Colman-Egan.
The Warriors took a 19-10 first quarter lead and counted 15 more in the second while holding the Hawks to just 14 first half points. At the half, it was 34-14.
C-E got into the scoring a bit better in the third period, hitting 12 points, but the Warriors kept ahead with 16 points of their own.
In the final frame, Colman-Egan scored eight and Castlewood, nine.
No Hawks connected in double digit scoring. Jase Mousel scored nine and had four rebounds. Jackson Zwart made eight points and had three steals. Jack Mousel brought down six rebounds to lead the Hawks.
Girls
CE 43, DeSmet 27
DESMET The Hawk girls picked up their eighth win in a row with a 43-27 defeat over DeSmet.
No other stats were available at press time.
Boys
DeSmet 53, Hawks 49
The Bulldogs got the better of the Hawks with a four point win, 53-49.
After one period, the Bulldogs led, 13-11 and at the half, the Hawks narrowed the gap to a 22-all tie. Both teams scored 13 in the third period, but the Bulldogs maintained the edge with 18 fourth quarter points as the Hawks only hit 14.
Jase Mousel had the hot hand for the Hawks hitting 18 points, followed by Jackson Zwart with 16 and eight rebounds. Caden Zwart also scored in double figures with 14 points and he brought down five rebounds and gave out four assists. Julian Allen made three steals.
