Girls stopped by Dolphins; win over Lakota Tech

Deubrook Area snapped the Fliers win streak at eight last Thursday, January 30, but the Flandreau girls regrouped and won over Lakota Tech on Saturday.

Deubrook Area 56, Flandreau 35
WHITE All three Flandreau girls basketball teams faced tough competition at Deubrook Area on Thursday as the Dolphins swept the Fliers in the varsity, JV and C games.
The Flier girls were stifled in the first half with only 13 points as the Dolphins doubled up on the visitors with 27. Flandreau scored 10 in each of the next two quarters, but the damage had been done and they took a 56-35 lost. The Fliers made 22 turnovers in the affair.
Flandreau shot only 32 percent from the field and 58 at the line. Deubrook hit percentages of 49 and 70.
Leading the Flier effort was Morgan Sheppard with 13 points. Hannah Krull had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Mataya Gouws scored 20 to lead all players and Matte Bauman hit 12 and Kylee Johnson 10 for the hosts.
Flandreaus JV team lost 34-32. Rona Streitz scored 12 points.
The C game also went Deubrooks way, 37-27. Tenley LeBrun scored 10 points and Kiley Westberry, nine.

Roundball Classic
Flandreau 45, Lakota Tech 42
VOLGA Three Flier girls basketball players all had double-doubles at the Roundball Classic in Volga when the Flier girls defeated Lakota Tech, 45-42.
Iott led the Flier scoring with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Morgan Sheppard made 14 points and had 15 boards to lead the team effort in rebounding and Hannah Krull had 13 points with 14 swipes off the glass.
Flandreau led after one quarter, 8-7 and the Lady Tatanka dumped in 15 second period points to the Fliers 10 to put the score at 22-18 in favor of Lakota Tech at the half.
The Fliers came roaring out the locker room to score 19 third period points to Lakota Techs six and then held on the for the win with eight fourth quarter points. The Tatanka scored 14 in the final frame but it wasnt enough. Flandreaus season record is now 12-4.
Iott also gave out three assists and made four steals and Sheppard made three assists.
