FLANDREAU In their final home event of the season, the Flandreau Flier wrestling team showed a good sized home crowd their stuff by sweeping three teams in a quadrangular.
The Fliers opened with a 45-25 win over Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney and then defeated Beresford/Alcester-Hudson, 40-39 in an exciting final match of the dual.
Parent and senior night were then celebrated and the team finished the night with a 54-27 win over Marion/Freeman.
Four Fliers finished the night with three wins.
Teague Bergjord, 120#, won over Will Toben MVPCS in a 30 second fall, defeated Sebastian Castillo of BAH by an 18-7 major decision and won a forfeit vs. MF. Against BAH, the Fliers needed Bergjord to win by decision for a tie, but he went on to win by major decision to give his team the win by one point.
Hayden Pearson, 165#, won a forfeit against MVPCS, pinned BAHs Corbin Buum in 50 seconds and had another first period fall, :55, over Hunter Spangler of MF.
Rhyder Behnke, 190#, won forfeits over MVPCS and MF and pinned Isaac Boden of BAH in 2:00.
Karter Headrick, 215#, had no competitive matches and took three wins by forfeit.
Picking up two wins by forfeit were Ryker Headrick at 106 and going 2-1 on the night were Zach Pederson, Justin Klein and Tyton Peters.
Tenley Quick had a couple of matches and won both.
The Fliers currently have a 7-5 dual record with two more quadrangulars remaining in the season.
