Flandreaus basketball teams played in two road doubleheaders just before the holiday break and split in the contests.
Both Flier teams lost to rated Hamlin squads as the Charger girls are rated third and the boys team second.
Against Beresford, the teams regrouped and handily won over the Watchdogs.
The boys, 2-1, will play in the annual Entringer Classic on Saturday against Dell Rapids St. Mary at 5 pm in Bob Jostad Gym at Brookings High School.
The girls team is off until January 2 when they host Dell Rapids.

Boys
The Flier boys were outscored 10-2 in the first quarter and were held to single digit scoring in each quarter as Hamlin handed the Fliers their first loss of the season 52-17.
Hamlin is a very good team and provides some matchup problems for us, said Coach Brendan Sheppard.
We did a nice job defensively besides a few mental mistakes. Offensively, we had a hard time generating anything easy against Hamlins defense.
Flandreau shot 24 percent from the field and only hit one of four free throws awarded. Hamlin shot percentages of 40 and 56 respectively.
With only five points each, Alfie Henderson and Luke Sheppard were the top Flier scorers. Sheppard also had four rebounds.
Easton Neuendorf scored 20 and Evan Stormo, 14, to top the Chargers scoring attack.
Flandreau had 14 turnovers to the Chargers nine and were outrebounded 36-15.
JV boys also lost to Hamlin 46-40 and the C team lost 43-16 behind six points from Jake Hamilton.
This early in the season we havent installed a wide array of offensive sets that would help generate easier possessions, noted Sheppard.
They are a state champion team for a reason, and we have some room to improve.
Girls
BERESFORD Flandreau scored only seven first quarter points and was down by one at the half, 24-23, but stepped up and got a basket to open the quarter and were never behind again.
Hannah Krull stepped up big shooting 10-of-14 for 24 points to lead the Fliers.
Morgan Sheppard swiped down 12 rebounds and finished with a double-double with 10 points and also gave out four assists.
Flandreau shot nearly 48 percent from the field and 60 at the line. Beresford shot percentages of 33 and 60 from the line.
Ella Merriman scored 24 for the host team.
Against the Watchdogs, the JV team got the 60-25 win.
Boys
A long three by Micah Otto opened the game and Flandreau was never behind enroute to a 70-36 win over the Watchdogs.
We came out and played with a greater sense of urgency, said Sheppard.
After the half time break, Flandreau fired in 17 points while stifling Beresford for the first six and a half minutes to only five points a 3 pointer and 2 free throws.
The defensive pressure was there and we were making Beresford uncomfortable. As a team we had 26 assists to only 7 turnovers. This could possibly be the most assists a team has had in my years of coaching.
Luke Sheppard gave away eight of those assists and Paul Parsley dished out five. Both players had two blocked shots on defense. Sheppard made five rebounds.
The Fliers were led by four players in double digits. Micah Otto with 12 and Xavier Bien, also with 12 all coming from 3-point shots, led the Fliers in scoring. Kaden Burshiem and Sheppard both chipped in 10 points each.
The team shot 55 percent to the Watchdogs 33 from the field and hit 66 percent from the line. Flandreau won the rebound battle 27-21.
Beresford was led by Malachi James who had 10 points. Aidan Hamm had nine points and Ashton Oberle had eight points.
The JV team won 48-40 while the C team took a 32-25 loss. Tate Hammer scored 14 points and Kenton James added six for the C team.
We have a week off for Christmas before we play the top two teams in Class B basketball, added Sheppard.
Those two teams are Dell Rapids St. Marys at the Entringer Classic and Castlewood.
