A new athletic complex for Colman-Egans football and track teams has been a long-standing vision for many in the district. Both teams have achieved consistent success, and school officials, along with families, have expressed a desire for improved training and competition facilities.
In 2023, constituents voted down a referendum that would have funded the construction of a new athletic stadium and complex. However, the proposal has resurfaced after construction costs for a new addition to the expanding school came in significantly lower than anticipated and bonded for.
Among the items discussed and voted on this past week at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Colman-Egan School Board, was the approval to hire the engineering firm ISG last week to develop concepts for the potential complex. While many are enthusiastic about the project, some community members have voiced concerns and opposition as discussions move forward.
An update on this developing story will be featured in next weeks edition of the Moody County Enterprise.
