CNP appointed ambulance supervisor as county faces financial struggles

Abbie Entringer has been appointed by Moody County as the new ambulance supervisor, stepping into the role previously held by David Prokulevich. Prokulevich, or Pickle, who served in both local and remote capacities for several years, faced increasing scrutiny as discussions stalled over the financial struggles of the countys ambulance service and the lack of viable, cost-effective solutions.
Entringer, a Certified Nurse Practitioner with Avera Medical Group in Flandreau, will take on the responsibilities previously managed by Prokulevich, overseeing the ambulance services operations.
Dr. Scott Peterson, of Avera Flandreau Hospital, will remain in his role as the countys medical director, a position required for signing off on ambulance protocols and the medications on board each unit.
Looking ahead, county officials anticipate Entringer will transition into the directors role sometime in 2025, continuing the work to improve the countys ambulance service and address its ongoing challenges.
