Badlands Circuit Champions continue to ride toward success

While there may not be any locals competing at this weeks National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, a few area riders are worth watching as they continue their rodeo careers through the winter and into next year.
Colmans Josie Mousel, a sophomore on the University of Wyoming rodeo team, claimed the Badlands Circuit Breakaway Roping Rookie title this fall, along with several other recent wins. Mousel has quickly established herself as a standout in both breakaway roping and goat tying. The Badlands Circuit includes all of North and South Dakota, making Mousels achievements even more impressive.
She is also currently ranked number one in the central Rocky Mountain region, and 2nd nationally in the goat tying college standings.
Dylan Hart, another local to watch on the team roping circuit, earned the Badlands Circuit Healer of the Year title. This honor is awarded to the healer with the highest earnings each year.
Hart has also earned a spot to go to the NFR Open in Colorado Springs July 8 through the 13th in 2025.
South Dakota has just two contestants overall in this years Wrangler NFR, which runs Dec 5-14 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center. Levi Lord, from Sturgis, returns this year in Team Roping, while Lisa Lockhart, from Oelrichs, remains one to watch each year. She will compete again in Barrels.
