Halloween fun without the hike

As Halloween approaches, kids throughout Moody County have more ways than ever to fill their candy bags beyond the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating.
There are three Trunk or Treat events scheduled this year the weekend before Halloween. The tailgate-like events seem to be gaining in popularity every year.
Young families in particular are increasingly opting for these stationary gatherings, which are often promoted as a safer, more convenient option.
At Trunk or Treats, cars and trucks are decorated and parked in a central location, with their trunks lined up for kids to quickly make their rounds. Its a fun, community-building experience for kids and families, as well as those hosting the trunks.
In Flandreau, the festivities begin on Saturday, October 26, at the Royal River Casino and Hotel parking lot, from 2 to 5 p.m.
Sunday, Our Saviors Lutheran Church will host a Trunk or Treat from 1 to 3 p.m. in the church parking lot on South Wind Street.
In Colman, the Looney Days Committee is hosting the final Trunk or Treat event on Sunday, October 27, starting at 5 p.m. at the City of Colman Campground.
Each event is hoping for more trunk hosts. In Flandreau, contact Royal River to sign up for the Saturday event. For more information or to host a trunk at Our Saviors Lutheran, contact Brittany Bennett or Pastor Ramona at (605) 864-3606.
In Colman, the Looney Days committee is still looking for businesses and families to participate. Contact Jess, send a message, or email [email protected] to get involved.
