It might be hard to believe, given the warm temperatures were still enjoying, but winter is just around the corner. As the nights grow cooler, its clear that Old Man Winter is waiting in the wings.
Its only a matter of time before we see the first frost, dropping temperatures, gusty winds, and snow.
In preparation, the State of South Dakota is once again advertising for snowplow drivers. According to the job posting, three positions are available: one daytime shift and two second-shift positions, which run from 3:30 p.m. to midnight.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, able to report to the Department of Transportation Shop within 30 minutes (under normal driving conditions) after notification, and capable of operating heavy equipment. A valid drivers license and a Class A or B commercial drivers license (CDL) with a Tank Vehicles (N) endorsement are required, or applicants must be able to obtain one within 30 days.
Starting pay ranges from $21.50 to $23.50 per hour, depending on experience. Preference will be given to those available to work only during winter conditions.
The job may range from part-time hours (20 hours per week) to full-time (40 hours per week), depending on the needs.
