TEA Flandreau saw its high school softball season come to a close as the Fliers lost in the SoDak 16 on Wednesday, May 22.
The No. 14 seeded Flandreau fell to No. 3 seeded Tea Area 11-1 in six innings.
The Titans scored in every inning en route to the State Tournament. They led 3-1 at the end of the first as the lone run of the game for the Fliers came on a sacrifice bunt from Addy Hammer. That came after a triple from Sadie Iott.
The Titans first run of the game came on a bases loaded walk. They followed that with a two-run double to make it 3-1. An RBI single and a run from an error made it 5-1 heading into the third.
Tea then scored two more runs on an RBI single in both the third and the fourth. A two-run single in the fifth put the Titans two runs away from the 10-run rule and a two-run double sixth finished the game and ended the season for the Fliers.
Flandreau had four hits. Iott was 2-for-3 and OIivia Peters and Layla Latterall were each 1-for-2.
Peters pitched the first four innings for the Fliers. She gave up eight runs, six earned, on seven hits with one strikeout and six walks. Nicole Hamilton pitched one and a third innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts and one walk.
