FLANDREAU The Flandreau Cardinals used five runs int he third inning to defeat the Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks, 7-5, Sunday on Cardinal Field in the Flandreau City Park.
Anderson got the win for the Cardinals on the mound throwing four innings but gave up eight of the 12 Gamecock hits. He struck out four batters. Luke Gassman came in relief for an inning and a third before Bret Severtson halted the Gamecock bats fanning four batters, allowing only one hit and and no runs.
Getting doubles for the Cardinals were Jacob Patterson, Keith Cutler and Bret Severtson.
Patterson, Koenigh, Severtson, Hegg and Tison Burggraff all went two for four at the plate. The Cardinals garnered 13 hits.
Thursday, the Cardinals host Colman at 7 pm at Cardinal Field.
