LENNOX In their inaugural baseball game, the Flandreau Blue Teal Amateur baseball team won 7-6 over against Lennox Chancellor Worthing Dirt Devils in a game played on the road.
The Blue Teal are a new amateur baseball team coordinated in Flandreau. The team is comprised of former local American Legion ball players and managed by Mark Hoffman.
The locals were down 6-3 after seven innings of play before Tash Lunday got an in the park home run to close the gap to 6-5. The team added two more runs int he top of the ninth and held the Dirt Devils scoreless in the bottom half of the inning.
Winning pitcher was Gage Sharping allowing on ly one hit with four strikeouts in the two innings pitched.
The Dirt Devils had five total hits and struck out 16 times. Their pitchers walked the Blue Teal nine times and struck out thirteen local batters.
The Blue Teal belted out 13 hits with all members getting at least one. Getting two hits each for the Blue Teal were Lunday, Kolby Peters and Tanner Christenson. Lunday had four RBI.
The next game is Thursday at Flandreau City Park against the Humboldt/Hartford Wood Duck. First pitch is 7:30.
