Wheelchairs donated to local nonprofit

Riverview Healthcare Center recently donated a dozen wheelchairs to the local nonprofit Helping Kids Round First. The Flandreau-based organization has a global reach, working with the most impoverished communities in Nicaragua as well as war-torn Sudan now, and Chad. Riverviews Executive Director Tim Yeaton said Riverview was ordering new chairs and instead of throwing the old ones away to make room, he spoke with HKRFs founder, Craig Severtson, and came up with a plan to instead donate them. HKRF works with elderly living and care facilities where some of the only support they get for programming and services is through the Flandreau-based organization.
Tims kindness will make a real difference in the lives of these people, enabling them to access mobility and independence, said Nadia Nabhan, Program Director for HKRF in Nicaragua. Your support truly embodies the spirit of compassion and solidarity. Together, were transforming lives and spreading hope.
The donation is just one of many from the area that continue to make a sincere impact on lives a world away every day. For more on the work happening through HKRF, log onto helpingkidsroundfirst.org.
