Organizers for the inaugural Looney Lights Christmas Parade were concerned this past week that few would come out for their first-ever event.
They couldnt have been more thrilled with the 23 parade entries that took part last Friday night and a downtown filled with families excited to share in the holiday cheer.
The attendance was incredible for the first time, said Carter Schmidt of CS Entertainment and one of the committee that helped to pull the event together.
Cars were lined up and down Main Street.
Santa visited with children ahead of the parade in the local community center and food and monetary donations were taken as a fundraiser for the countys food pantry, The Breadbasket. As a result, $628 ($378 from the community and $250 from CS Entertainment) was raised along with canned food donations.
The Looney Days Committee is already looking ahead to next year and asking that you keep the first Friday night in December on your calendar for the 2nd annual event.
