The Flandreau Indians lost both ends of a doubleheader to Crow Creek at Flandreau on Friday night. Crow Creek won the girls game by an 84-52 margin. Jolanna Sazue had a terrific night for the Crow Creek team with 35 points. She was followed by Evelene Arrow with 15 points.
Alethia McKinney was high scorer for the Indians with 15 points, while Whipple scored 10.
Coach Derek Burshiem said that Crow Creek pressed hard the whole game, which made it especially hard for the FIS team to get the ball upcourt and set up an offense.
The FIS boys lost 75-40 to the Chieftains. Coach Dustin Headrick said that his team got off to a slow start, but improved in the second half, which was played fairly even. Sonny Cross Dog was top scorer for the Indians with 13 points.
Both teams are in action Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in Rapid City at the Lakota Nation Invitational Tournament. The Indian School boys play White River on Wednesday, while the girls take on Crow Creek again.
