Earlier this month, Moody County voters went to the polls to cast their vote on a new county zoning ordinance.
The ordinance passed by a vote of 381-350.
“We’re pleased it passed and it is now essentially in effect. The changes we felt were needed were made and we're ready to move on,” said County Commission Chairman, Rick Veldkamp.
Voter turnout in Moody County was low, but it echoed the turnout statewide. Election officials felt there was just an assumption the big issues would get passed and the weather most likely played a factor, with severe storms rolling through the region.
Who Will Replace County Auditor
Lori Schaefers has officially had her last day on the job as County Auditor with no replacement yet determined.
"We have not appointed anybody at this point, we are still exploring what our options are," said County Commission Chairman, Rick Veldkamp.
The Commissioners will be discussing during their meeting what next steps should be and who might be the right person to temporarily fill the position until the fall election.
