Sendoff for 1742nd scheduled for Dec. 14

Posted: Monday, Nov 25th, 2013

A sendoff program for the South Dakota Army National Guard 1742nd Transportation Company out of Sioux Falls with a detachment in Flandreau, has been scheduled for December 14th at Harrisburg High School at 10:00AM according to the State’s Public Affairs Officer, Major Anthony Deiss.

Major Deiss, as well as Staff Sergeant Bart Sample of Flandreau, believe that the program will include many speakers including possibly Governor Dennis Daugaard, as well as their Adjutant General, Major General Tim Reisch, but neither has been confirmed.

The unit is set to deploy in the following days after the program, and are scheduled to be in Afghanistan until around November of next year, where they will be supporting Operation Enduring Freedom by providing transportation of both dry and refrigerated containerized cargo, general non-containerized cargo and bulk water and fuel products.
