Pumpkin Painting and Bake Sale to be held Saturday
The 6th annual Pumpkin Paint and Bake Sales to raise funds for FIRST (Foundation for ichthyosis & Related Skin Types) will be held Saturday, October 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the William J. Janklow Community Center. All ages are welcome to paint pumpkins as well as shop the bake sale. Sponsored by Rylee Iott and her family. All proceeds are donated to FIRST.
OSLC Fall Harvest Supper is Sunday
Our Saviorís Lutheran Church will be serving its Fall Harvest Supper on Sunday, October 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church located at 505 S. Wind St., Flandreau. Members will be serving homemade fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, salad, rolls, pie and ice cream and a drink. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $4 for those ages 5 to 10 years.
County Public Health Nurse to hold flu shot clinic
The Moody County Public Health Office at 309 N. Prairie St., Flandreau, (the old clinic building behind the new clinic) will be holding a seasonal flu clinic on Monday, Oct. 21 from 2 to 6 p.m. The clinic is free to children 6 months to 18 years. Adults 19 years and above are $20. We cannot do Medicare. Call 605-997-3779 for more information.
Riverview to hold Estate Planning presentation
The community is invited to attend an informational presentation on Estate Planning on Wed., Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m. at Riverview Health Services, Inc., 611 E. 2nd Ave. in Flandreau. The free presentation will be presented by attorneys Corey Bruning and Paul Lewis. Refreshments will be provided.
Flandreau city residents can use landfill for free
Itís the time of year when Flandreau City residents are cleaning up their yards and can now note they can bring their refuse to the landfill free of charge. The landfill, located south of town on Veteranís Street, is open Wednesdays, 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 to 5 p.m. Acceptable items are yard waste-leaves, twigs, grasses, etc. Please keeps twigs and branches separate from other debris. The landfill is open as long as weather allows.
Businesses should register for Halloween contest
Just as a reminder, the Flandreau Development Corporationís Halloween Costume Contest will be held on Wednesday, October 31st. The contest is open to all area businesses no matter if they are large or small in employee numbers. To register, call the City Office with your business name, and the Charity you wish to donate your $100 Flandreau Bucks to if named the winner. Members of the FDC will go around on Halloween to look at all the themes and choose the winner.
Taxes due Oct. 31
The second half of your Moody County Property taxes are due and payable in the County Treasurerís Office by October 31. If mailed, they must be postmarked by this day. Interest begins accruing on Nov. 1.
