Rodger Lee, age 63 of Elk Point, died August 27, 2013.
Rodger was born May 6, 1950 in Flandreau to Robert and Lorraine (Hefty) Lee. He attended Fletcher Country School and Flandreau High School where he graduated in 1968.
Rodger joined the U.S. Army in February of 1969 and served overseas in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in Sept. 1970. He married Bev Atwood on Nov. 8, 1974. He took a job with Northwestern Bell in 1974. He attended Augustana and graduated with a BA degree in English in 1978. In 1979 he took a transfer to Elk Point.
Rodger was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America starting in 1991. He attended numerous functions. He attended Wood Badge training and was awarded his Wood Badge beads in 2006. He loved golfing and watching the NBA on TV. He was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed playing on the dart league in Elk Point. He touched many lives through Alcoholics Anonymous and it was a very important part of his life.
Rodger was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2007. He remained at home until May of 2012, when he moved to the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Rodger is survived by his wife: Bev; two children: Derek (Tara) Lee of Sioux Falls and Abby (Richard) Green of Greeley, CO; granddaughters: Emersen, Harper, Audrey and Briar; his sister: Nancy (John) McSwiggan of Goodyear, AZ and his brother: Gordon (Mary) Lee of Clear Lake, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ron.
