Golfers play catch-up from postponed meets

With both Colman-Egan and Flandreauís golf teams having more than 10 meets cancelled or postponed due to poor weather conditions, last week was a busy one with both schools playing in a combined six meets.

Colman-Egan started off their week at the DVC tournament at Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids on Monday. Junior Trenton Hemmer brought home the individual title for the Hawks, shooting a 76. Keaton Westover carded a 92 to take home the ninth position for Colman-Egan. Those two scores combined with Kade Groosí 101 and Lane Hansenís 116, the Hawks finished second with a team score of 269, just four strokes behind Deubrook, who took home the title with a 265.

On the girlís side, Baylee Groos carded a 131 to finish in ninth place, while Paityn Groos tallied a 161 to finish in 15th position.

Hemmer continued his success on Tuesday when the Hawks traveled to Arlington for the Arlington Invite. Hemmer finished in fourth place while Westover took home sixth. Baylee Groos finished the meet in ninth position.

The Hawks hosted a golf tournament on Thursday. Despite the cold weather and breezy conditions, the team finishing in fourth place on their home turf, led again by Hemmer, who finished fourth with an 85. Hansen took second billing for the Hawks with a 95 with Westover and Haiden Schmidt carding 99s and Mason Hemmer finishing with a 108. Baylee Groos finished the meet with her second ninth place finish, carding a 103, while Paityn Groos finished with her second straight 15th place finish with a 125.

They wrapped up their week in Chester with Trenton Hemmer taking home another individual title. Westover finished in the top-ten again with a ninth place finish, while Haiden Schmidt finished in 11th and Kade Groos finishing in 14th.

Flandreau started their week at the Jesse James golf meet in Garretson with Zach Stephens taking the teams best finish, carding a 99 to take home 20th place. Dawson Blum finished with a 100, while Rowden Hammer carded a 106 and Leighton Blum finished with a 107. Overall, the team finished in seventh place with a 305.

The Fliers wrapped up varsity action on Thursday at the CE Hawk Invite. Dawson Blum took home the teamís top score, shooting a 102, with Stephens finishing with a 110, Leighton Blum with a 112, Dallas Stienhauer carded a 115 and Anthony Bakkedahl finished the round with a 129. Overall the Fliers finished in ninth position, shooting 439 as a team.

Both squads have another busy week of meets this week before Regions start up next Monday (May 13th).
