FDC purchases land for housing development

Posted: Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

The area outlined with a heavy blue line is part of the new 11 acres purchased by the Flandreau Development Corporation early last week and will be divided out in lots for homebuilding.
City to expand by 11 acres

Early last week, the Flandreau Development Corporation signed the papers that would give them about 11 acres of land between South Crescent Street and Southview Heights (Wind Street/Circle Drive).

“This is a great thing for Flandreau,” FDC President Chad Weber said.

The 11 acres of land will be able to fit between 10-15 homes depending on finalized lot sizes.

Currently the FDC is working with the city and its engineers on plotting the land as well as putting in a gravel road for interested buyers to go and see the land. The street will be called Elon Drive and will come to an L with Fredrick Street on its north and connect to Wind Street/Circle Drive towards the south.

Since the purchase is now complete, it allows the future landowner to decide whom they would like to build their home. This was not the case prior to the sale as the former landowner is a homebuilder and his company would have been required to build the house.

The lots are currently ready for sale to all interested parties. For more information, contact the Flandreau Development Corporation or either of the two real estate companies, Locke Agency or Kuhle-Sutton Agency.
