Harvey A. Reynolds, age 94, formerly of Verdi, MN passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Riverview Health Services.
He was born June 3, 1918 to Thomas C. and Martha (Rasmussen) Reynolds at their farm home near Verdi, MN. He attended school at Verdi and helped his father with the farming. In 1934 he moved with his family to a farm near Balaton, MN. Harvey married Dorothy Mae Freeburg on March 31, 1944 at Slayton, MN. He farmed at Balaton until the fall of 1946, when they moved to Verdi. Besides farming he was in partnership with his brother Tom in the livestock trucking business. He was awarded Truck Driving Awards for safety and performance. In 1959 Harvey, Dorothy Mae and their children moved to a farm south of Hendricks where they lived until 1976. Then they moved to Verdi and lived there until the fall of 1980 when Harvey retired and moved to the Black Hills in SD. They lived at St. Onge, SD for a number of years and then at Edgemont, SD. Dorothy Mae passed away April 15, 2007. Harvey resided the past 5 years with his daughters and spent the last 5 weeks of his life at Riverview Health Services. Harvey loved horses - raising them and riding them. When he was younger he liked to hunt and fish.
Harvey is survived by two sons: David, Hot Springs, SD, and Dennis, Newcastle, WY; two daughters: Darlene Anderson, Belle Plaine, MN and Diane (Steve) Hammer, Elkton; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother Howard (Rosemary) Reynolds, Pipestone, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae, his parents, two sisters, five brothers and son-in-law Leroy Anderson.
Memorial services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Verdi United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Hill Cemetery, Lake Benton, MN.
