Plenty of seats open

Posted: Tuesday, Jan 29th, 2013

Moody County had an impressive turnout for the 2012 presidential election, but the citizens will be put to the test once again in order to fill 11 vacant seats in the county’s five towns.

Starting with Colman, there will be three members of their city council whose terms will come to an end this year. Council President, Jeff Fritz (Ward 2), Vice President Scott Shafer (Ward 1) and Bob Rolfson (Ward 3) will each have their terms expire this year.

Also, Colman-Egan school will have one race for school board. Jennifer Keyes will be wrapping up her second term on the board.

Flandreau’s school board has two members whose terms are running out. Vice President Darren Hamilton and Val Sutton will each be wrapping up their second terms on the school board.

The town of Trent will have one 3-year Trustee seat available by election time. Ward will have one 3-year Alderman position and Egan will have two 3-year Trustee seats (Trustee #1 and #2) and also one 1-year Trustee seat available (Trustee #5).

All members of the Flandreau City Council will sit through 2013.

None of the people above have indicated either way whether they will attempt to reclaim their seats or not. Circulation of Nominating Positions started last Friday and must be completed and turned in no later than the 22nd of February.

The election date for all the positions listed above will be April 9th, 2013.
