FHS Drama department to present one-act play Monday at Crystal

Posted: Tuesday, Jan 15th, 2013

The Flandreau High School Drama Department will present Doctor Devereaux: The Dastardly Doctor… (or Nurses! Foiled Again!) by Billy St. John at the Crystal Theatre on Monday, January 21. The performance will begin at 7:00pm. Admission will be $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. The cast and crew will also compete in the Region IV One Act Play Contest to be help in Madison on January 23.

Dogsbreath Devereaux, M.D., (Justin Lacey) plots to wed and do away with the wealthy widow Lotta Cash (Amy Sanderson) so he can inherit her fortune and her late husband’s clinic. He enlists the aid of the nasty nurse, Hilda Hatchet (Caitlyn Drietz), and promises to marry her once he disposes of Lotta.

Problems arise with the insanely jealous Hilda who catches Dogsbreath flirting with Wendy March (Lexy Antoine), the heroine of the show. With the help of Dr. Phil Good (Adam Day), Ivy Dripp (Lea Clark), Ward Helper (Daniel Vasquez), Trixie St. James (Chelsea Price), and Officer Tommy Gunn (Mason Thompson), can Wendy save the unsuspecting Lotta Cash from certain death?

Set in a clinic filled with zany patients (Kiley Burggraff, Derick Veldkamp) and interruptions by Nurse P. A. (Keri Johnson), this melodrama is sure to leave the audience in stitches.
