FHS graduate takes leadership role with SDSCA

Tobin Bakkedahl, 1997 Flandreau Public High School graduate, was elected to the president-elect position of the South Dakota School Counselor Association (SDSCA) in the spring of 2012 and formally took the role of President of the association on July 1, 2013.

SDSCA serves over 200 certified school counselors across South Dakota and works to fulfill its vision to support and unite professional school counselors through advocacy, leadership, and collaboration. SDSCA empowers its members by providing professional development opportunities, ethical support and resources to promote student success in the academic, career and personal/social domains.

Bakkedahl is beginning his fifth year as a professional school counselor at Whittier Middle School in Sioux Falls, SD. He also serves as a basketball and volleyball coach for Whittier. In addition, Bakkedahl will serve as an adjunct professor at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD this fall.

He is the son of Deb Bakkedahl of Flandreau and the late Tom Bakkedahl.
