William Ryan Winter

Ryan and Tammy Winter of Crooks are the parents of a son, William Ryan, born Thursday, July 15, 2010. He weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 20 inches long. At home he is joined by his big sister Payton and big brother Lawson.Grandparents are Pat Hammer of Flandreau and Bill and Marlys Winter of Pipestone. Great grandmother is Ethel Winter of Pipestone.

Student news

Alyson Schwebach, a 2010 graduate of Colman-Egan High School, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship as part of the 3rd annual Insuring a Brighter Tomorrow Scholarship program of the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation. She is one of 25 students to receive the scholarship and will attend South Dakota State University this fall..





Julson family holds reunion July 25

The Julson family held their 55th annual family reunion on Sunday, July 25. A potluck dinner and supper was held at the Flandreau Senior Citizens Center starting at 12:30 p.m. Sixty descendants of Ben and Anna Julson attended.

Out of town families were Wilbur and Virginia Latham, Arlene and Dean Lerdal, Tom and Mildred Carstensen, William Dockstader, Ron Dockstader, Marlyce McKellips, Cindy McKellips, David and Val Ekern, Dale and Darlene Brekke, Suzanne Brekke, Chantel, Mary Louise and Preston Quissell, Kris, Brittany and Addalyn Field, D.J. Stenik, Marcia and Jack O'Neil, Dorothea LaMere, Kathy and Glenn Versteeg, Tim and Marlene Olson, Pat Bourassa, Jan Meyers, Deb Peterson, Randy Mosley, Marti Haynes, Donny Latham, Kevin, Judy, Dayne and Tayte Versteeg.

Families from Flandreau in attendance included Marilyn Powers, Wes and Sandy Harris, Samantha, Kennedy and Carson Headrick, Steven Schepel, Geneva Ekern, Dwaine and Phyllis Latham, Vicki Solem, Scott and Lani Ramsdell, Alison Ramsdell, Jason Unger, Allysa Burggraff, Nancy Carlsrud and Lisa, Patrick and C.J. Mueller. The 56th Julson Family reunion will be held on July 24, 2011 at the Flandreau Senior Citizens Center. All descendants of Ben and Anna Julson are invited to attend.



Aaker-Johnson reunion held

The annual Aaker-Johnson reunion was held Sunday, July 25 at the Veterans Center in Flandreau.

Those attending included Sharon and Lane Miller of Flandreau; Clifford and Joanne Hotchkin of Colton; Dwain and Carol Johnson of Mitchell; Ron and Bernice Alderson of Rapid City; and Fred and Marion Carlson of Lake Wilson; Bruce and Avis Kohler of Brookings; Loye and Bob Ryan of Vancouver, WA and Bill and Lois O'Neill of Superior, WI.

Loye and Bob Ryan presented the program on their trip to Norway to visit where the Aaker and Johnson family came from. It was decided to have the reunion again next year at the Veterans Center on July 31, 2011.
