Christmas Tree Festival, 2009
Posted: Tuesday, Nov 3rd, 2009

Plans are being made by the Moody County Historical Society for the 18th annual Christmas tree festival. Organizations, businesses, families and individuals in the Moody County area are invited to participate by setting up and decorating a Christmas tree on the first floor of the Moody County Courthouse.

Set up times will be on Monday, Nov. 30 or Tuesday or Wednesday, Dec. 1-2 during Courthouse business hours. Trees may be taken down from Dec. 28 to Dec. 31.

The trees will be available for viewing after Dec. 2 until Dec. 24. Those viewing the trees may vote at the Courthouse for their favorite in two categories: "Most beautiful" and Most Unique."

The trees must be artificial and not over 6 feet or under 3 feet and electricity will be provided on a "first come" basis. To register you may call the museum at 997-3191 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. during the week or fill out the form and return it to: Moody County Museum, P.O. Box 25, Flandreau, SD 57028-0025. E-mails to mchsmus1@knology.net are also acceptable.

Memories tree featured

For the fifth year, the Christmas Tree Festival, sponsored by the Moody County Historical Society will include a "Memories Christmas Tree" to be placed on the first floor of the Moody County Courthouse.

Anyone is invited and encouraged to decorate a Christmas tree ornament in honor or in memory of a loved one who has served in the military, or is currently serving. This may include men and women, living or deceased, who served in any war or military action.

With so many from this community who are currently serving and so many who have served in the past, let's make an extra-special Christmas tree this year. Make plans now to bring an ornament(s) to place on the tree after Dec. 2.

If you have any questions call the museum at 997-3191.
