Flier football breakfasts start

The Flandreau Flier football breakfasts will start this Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 a.m. The first one will be at the Flandreau Fire Hall.
Friday, Sept. 24, which is Homecoming, the breakfast will be at the Flandreau Community Center at 7 a.m.

Flier Booster Club Pork Feed, Friday

The Flier Booster Club will be sponsoring a pork loin feed this Friday, Sept. 10 at the home opener football game. The feed, which is their annual membership drive, will be held at Flier Booster Club Stadium prior to the 7 p.m. football game with Sioux Falls Christian.

Flier boys team takes fifth at season opening meet

Led by Guy Zephier's third place finish, the Flandreau boys cross country team took third place in the Aug. 31 McCook Central/Montrose meet.
Zephier finished the race in 17 minutes and 23 seconds. Duane Jongeling of Parker was the winner, clocking in at 16:49.
Jared Sutton took seventh place for the Fliers, finishing close behind Zephier.

Estelline takes down Hawks

Estelline shook off a first-set loss in beating 10th-ranked Colman-Egan, 3-1, in girls volleyball August 31.
The Lady Redmen won by the scores of 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-22.
The Hawks found themselves facing some early deficits in each of the games, before battling back to make things interesting.

The Flandreau Fliers couldn't quite overcome Madison in volleyball action hosted by Flandreau last week.
The Bulldogs came out on top during the Sept. 2 matchup, after winning three close games by scores of 23-25, 25-27 and 23-25.

Colman Jaycees to host PPK contest, Sept. 12

The Colman Jaycees will be hosting the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. at the Colman-Egan football field.
This free event is open to boys and girls, ages 6 to 15. Everyone must have a permission form filled out and copy of their birth certificate in order to participate.

Hunt organizers looking for volunteers and/or donations

The 3rd Sioux River Freedom Hunt, a pheasant hunting experience for hunters with special needs, is scheduled for Saturday, September 18 at the Sioux River Wildlife Game Farm north of Flandreau.
A dozen hunters and nearly three times as many volunteers will spend the day hunting ringneck pheasants according to hunt organizers.
