Area athletes compete at HWDR under warm and sunny skies

The competition was pretty stiff at the 90th running of the Howard Wood Dakota Relay over the weekend.
The Colman-Egan boys' quartet of Kade Groos, Bodee Groos, Cole Kriech and Sam Buhr posted a time of 3:51.33 in the Class B sprint medley relay to finish sixth, cutting almost eight seconds, and besting the state qualifying standard.

Cardinals to play Alumni this Saturday

The "Snick Scofield Cardinal Alumni Game" will be played this Saturday, May 9th at Cardinal Field in Flandreau City Park.
A 9 inning game will begin at 4 p.m. between the current Cardinal baseball team and members of former Cardinal teams over the past 30 years.
The game will be followed by hot dogs and brats served

Fliers sixth at BEC meet

Sioux Valley won the boys' title and Howard took the girls' championship during the Big East Conference Golf Tournament on Friday at Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids.
The Cossacks carded a team score of 257 for their first BEC title since 2006.
Garretson was second at 259; followed by McCook Central/ Montrose (263) in third, Howard (266)

Hamlin's Banana Relays

The Flandreau girls won three of the five relays and placed second in the other two at Hamlin's Banana Relays on April 28.
Kathy Parsley, Baylee Relf, Sinona Flute and Hannah Parsley closed out the meet with a win in the 4x400-meter relay in 4 minutes, 21.14 seconds after the same four girls teamed up to win the 1,600
