Stella “Dot” White, age 87 of Dell Rapids, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center.
Stella was born on July 19, 1926 at Bushnell, SD to Joseph and Cora Belle (Heinrich) Houg. She grew and attended school in the Bushnell, Sinai and White areas. She moved with her family to Hartford. She met and married Marvin Steineke on April 22, 1944 in Hartford. The couple made their home in Hartford and later Sioux Falls. To this union their six children were born. She married Kenneth White on September 2, 1972 at Sioux Valley Baptist Church, rural Trent. They made their home in Trent. Kenneth passed away on June 19, 1995. Stella remained in Trent until she became a resident of the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center in Dell Rapids in 2011.
She was a member of the Sioux Valley Baptist Church and Ladies Aid. She took great pride in cleaning and mowing the church for many years.
She is survived by two sons: Fred (Mable) Steineke of Sioux Falls and Randy (Elaine) Steineke of Trent; four daughters: Dixie (Kenny) Hinrichs of Sioux Falls, Ruth Edwards of Rowena, Karen (Merle) Henry and Bonnie (Chris) Almont both of Renner; her 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; her brother: Darrell (Shirley) Houg of Inver Grove, MN; her sister: Shirley Pottratz of Tucson, AZ; and her sisters-in-law: Arlene Lewis, Maureen Gibson and Ruth Iverson.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her granddaughter, Georgia Ament, her son-in-law, Dan Edwards, her two brothers and two sisters.
Her funeral service was held August 14 at the Kahler Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in the Riverview Cemetery.
