Vera J. Greve, age 88, formerly of rural Elkton, died Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the White Healthcare Center in White.
Vera June Jensen was born on June 10, 1925, near Lone Tree in Moody County the daughter of Anton and Dorothy Christine (Anderson) Jensen. Vera received her education in Egan, SD and was a graduate of the Flandreau High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Marvin Greve on June 6, 1948 in rural Colman. After their marriage they farmed in Brookings County until their retirement in 1986. In 1987, they moved to Aurora. Marvin died on January 23, 2000. Vera moved to Brookings in 2001 and to White in 2007.
She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Aurora, the Ladies Aid, Senior Citizens and the Parnell Birthday Club. She enjoyed working on photo albums, baking, visiting and especially spending time with family and friends. Vera ministered to many people throughout her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Vera is survived by four children: Diane Greve of Minneapolis, MN, Steven (Jae) Greve of Brookings, Rodney (Patricia) Greve of Aurora and Mary Lou (Ricardo) Arbuckle of Hutchinson, MN; five grandchildren: Hilary, Vergil, Damien, Stephany and Kyle; and nine great grandchildren: Skye, Landric, Lincoln, Kordell, Eamonn, London, Hunter, Talyn and Charlee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Joshua, one great granddaughter, Rachel, three brothers, Harvey, Leonard, Melvin and two sisters Evelyn and Liala.
Funeral services were held August 13 at First English Lutheran Church in Aurora, with interment at Fairlawn Cemetery in Aurora
