Fred C. Wenge, 86, of Dell Rapids passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at the Dells Area Health Center.

Frederick Charles Wenge was born on December 6, 1923 in Dell Rapids to Jacob and Anna (Nelson) Wenge. He grew up on a farm northeast of Dell Rapids and attended country school. After school, Fred farmed with his father. He married Elaine Rommereim at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Flandreau. The couple made their home on farms between Trent and Egan. They moved to Dell Rapids in the late 1980’s. Fred started working at Pilot in Sioux Falls and worked there until 2000. In 2000, Fred moved to his apartment when Elaine became a resident of Terrace Manor. Fred joined Elaine at Terrace Manor in 2009. Fred was a member of the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. He enjoyed woodworking, making cabinets, his dairy cattle and farming. Farming was his life.

Survivors include his wife: Elaine of Dell Rapids; his son: Merle (Mona) Wenge of Sioux Falls and one grandson: Matt (Michelle) Wenge of Orlando, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Earl.

Funeral service was held at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids Chapel on February 5.
