Community Center officially renamed in honor of Janklow

Governor Dennis Daugaard looks on as Russ Janklow, son of the late Bill Janklow, addresses the crowd at the renaming ceremony of the Flandreau Community Center, which will now be called the William J. Janklow Community Center/Armory. Other speakers included Flandreau City Alderman Bart Sample, District 8 State Senator Russell Olson, and Governor Daugaard. The speakers shared stories of their time with Janklow and how he affected their lives - along with the lives of many South Dakotans - during his tenure. Bill Janklow, a Flandreau native, a four-term South Dakota Governor and a former U.S. Congressman, died January 12, 2012 after a brief battle with brain cancer.
