Taking “whatever” measures… in a “whatever” winter
Posted: Tuesday, Feb 2nd, 2010

Here is something you don't get to see everyday! Dave Flatten recently took extra measures to make sure the roof at the Flandreau Locker would be able to deal with any additional snow load. This winter has made excess snow on the roof an issue for many. Besides the shear weight of the snow, many area residents are finding "ice dams" along the edges and in the valleys of their roofs. These ice dams can be responsible for expensive leaks on the inside of your home. Homeowners are also encouraged check their roof vents to make sure they are not frozen or drifted over.

Monday, Feb. 1 provided us with another four inches of snow and then on Tuesday, Feb. 2, Groundhog Day, the groundhog saw his shadow which means six more weeks of winter. Sorry!
