Socktober coordinators looking for new socks

The Flandreau Middle School Student Council and fellow students invite community members to participate in their Socktober sock drive.
The school's goal is to gather 500 pairs of socks and they are challenging the Flandreau community to match that for a total of 1000 pairs that will be made available to individuals in need throughout

During their October meeting, Flandreau school board members and educators discussed at length the Smarter Balanced and Dakota STEP test scores from last year.
The dialogue centered around how the Flandreau Public School proficient and advanced scores compare to the average scores of the state.

Trunk or Treat great success

The Flandreau Development Corporation along with many other sponsored a successful Trunk or Treat event along Flandreau's downtown business area. Many spooks, princesses, super heros and many other characters were seen on the street receiving candy from decorated trunks. See page 6 for more photos.

Board members review security camera proposals

The school board looked over proposals from five companies and independent dealers for a security system upgrade in the high school at their meeting on Monday, Oct. 10.
Superintendent Rick Weber said they received quite a wide variety of price estimates for the upgrade, from over $57,000 to just under $20,000.
