Missing Egan child sleeping safely in Flandreau

An intense search for a missing 8-year-old boy from Egan ended Saturday morning with the notification that he was spending the night with a friend in Flandreau.
Moody County Sheriff Troy Wellman said the child was away from home at about 6 p.m. Friday. The sheriff's office was contacted about 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

Justice Department to honor Johanson

Cynthia Johanson, a probation officer with the Flandreau Santee Tribal Court, will be honored with a Department of Justice Certificate of Appreciation as part of National Crime Victims' Week 2016.
The U.S. Attorney's Office will present the award to Johanson and provide brief remarks at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 5, at the Tribal Community Center.

The Flandreau City Council will begin posting its council packets on the city website, http://www.cityofflandreau.com.
The council packets include the material that council members refer to at city council meetings.
"For the future, we'll be putting it on the website," said city administrator Don Whitman. The next council meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 2.
